Arbitrage Conspiracy Review

December 9, 2008 – 1:01 am

While we’ve seen a handful of “big” product launches in the Internet Marketing arena in 2008, this one will probably be remembered as the biggest.

It’s got a bigger “hook” ($100k a day) and more gurus promoting it than anything I’ve ever seen.

So before I jump into the nitty gritty, let me make a few things clear…

1) I was at the Vegas “invite only” event, where they unveiled Arbitrage Conspiracy. No I didn’t pay $10k to be there, but I could see why they would have charged that much.

2) There is no way to review the product in its entirety, because it’s going to be a 12 week course. In other words, no one has actually “seen” the product. So I can only base this review upon the content that was presented in Vegas, combined with what they are saying the product is going to be.

3) Everyone at the Vegas event signed an NDA, so I can’t reveal many of the details. However, some of the details have now been made public by the makers of the product, so I can talk about those things. Also, I am certainly able to give you my opinions about the content I received in Vegas, without revealing specifics.

OK, so I’m actually going to start with the bottom line, and then I’m going to go into more depth to justify my opinion…

Bottom line: I am fully recommending the Arbitrage Conspiracy product/program for anyone who understands what it’s about and is interested in scaling their PPC campaigns to high levels.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let me tell you the good, the bad, and how I came to my conclusion.

In case you’re not yet familiar with the Arbitrage Conspiracy story, and the characters behind it, let me fill you in…

It’s about a guy named Aymen (last name withheld), who is reportedly making between $50k-$100k per day NET profit using PPC (pay per click). His main method is promoting offers from CPA (cost per action/acquisition) networks which pay per lead generated.

Aymen works with two other guys on this business, one of whom is a partner in the business. They have requested to remain anonymous, but I did meet one of them in Vegas. He was a very nice Christian guy… I wish I could tell you more about him, as he is proof positive that this business can be conducted with integrity.

The guy who is essentially “bringing” the Arbitrage Conspiracy to the world is Brad Fallon, a recognizable name in the Internet Marketing world. You may know him from such things as StomperNet, Free IQ, etc.

The first question a lot of people may have is… is this for real? After all, $100k per day is a lot, right?

And IF it’s real… then why would Aymen be revealing his methods to the world?

To answer the first question, I will say yes it’s real. I’ve seen their commission statements with my own eyes. But more than that, it’s really not as unbelievable as a lot of people may think. There are a lot of people making that much money; there are just not very many who are teaching how to do it.

A couple months ago, a product was launched by a guru who made $2 Million last year from PPC. It was touted as the greatest PPC revelation of all time. Now these guys come along who are making more than that every month. It’s only a matter of time before the next PPC guru comes along and says he’s making over $1M per day. The Internet IS that big, and it will happen.

To answer the second part of the question (why would he teach it?) is a little more complicated. The most frequent answer you’ll likely find is: because he wants to give back.

I’m sure that’s true, as Aymen and his associates are nice guys… but this obviously isn’t merely a philanthropic endeavor. After all, there are plenty of ways to give back to the world, other than revealing your trade secrets to your competitors.

The obvious ulterior motive is to make more money selling the program. And with a launch of this magnitude, plenty of money will be made.

The other ulterior motive (although publicly mentioned by Amen in an interview) may be less obvious: Aymen is starting a CPA network and wants to train an army of super affiliates to promote his offers.

So hopefully that satisfies everyone’s desire for a reason why.

Now, the most important part…

Can they really teach you how to replicate their success?

Yes, I believe they can. When I produced The Next Internet Millionaire, I learned from Kris Jones (founder of PepperJam), that a successful Internet business can be built in three steps:

1) Find something that works. (period)
2) Replicate it. (period)
3) Scale it. (period)

It’s an ancient formula, and it’s been applied by many people to PPC since its inception. For example, Kris made $1M in one year from PPC arbitrage before starting the Pepperjam Network to scale his business to the next level.

So the CONCEPT is not new. All Aymen has done is taken a successful PPC model (developed largely by his own trial and error), replicated it, and scaled it into a $100k/day business.

And generally speaking, the business model is not new either. In fact, PPC arbitrage has been one of the most taught methods in this niche for the past several years. There are countless ebooks on ClickBank teaching it (I was initiated into it by Chris Carpenter’s Google Cash ebook years ago).

So what’s different about this?

It really comes down to the specific combination of tools and techniques that they are using to thrive in today’s market. Research is fundamental to their success.

Aymen and his team are truly on the bleeding edge of technology as it applies to their business. They have formulated a systematic approach to research, PPC implementation, landing pages, conversion, and every other element.

They’ve been able to leverage their system to the point that they only work part time (a few hours a day) in order to achieve the results they are getting. In my opinion, that’s impressive!

Their system is so good that it caused virtually everyone in attendance (including myself) to drop their jaws in awe of what they had presented to us.

OK so now it’s time for me to tell you what I DON’T like…

This is somewhat difficult to say, because I don’t want to piss off my friends who are launching this product. However, if I didn’t say it, this wouldn’t be Eric’s Tips. :-) If all I said were the same things as all the other “gurus” then you might was well unsubscribe from my newsletter right now, because you obviously don’t need more of the same hype.

I have a problem with the way they are positioning the course for newbies. For example, these are the top 3 bullet points on their current landing page:

“How he got started with a mere $50!”

“How to get completely set up and open for business in 24 hours!”

“How To Make Massive profits with No Website, No Product and No List”

I understand that a newbie can follow this system, but I do not believe those points are representative of the course as a whole. Although the business is fairly simplistic in nature (buy clicks to earn profits), I think their systems are more complex than they may realize.

Yes, Aymen got started with $50, but he also spent millions of dollars testing and developing his methods. There are also a handful of software and memberships that you will need to buy to implement all the methods.

Yes, you could get a PPC campaign up and running in 24 hours (or 24 minutes for that matter), but that barely scratches the surface of the Arbitrage Conspiracy methods. I consider myself to be an EXPERT, and it would take me a matter of weeks to implement all their techniques.

Yes you could make profits with no website, no product, and no list… but that’s not the emphasis of the program. A lot of their methods use landing pages, and landing pages are part of a website.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that if THOSE are the things that you want to do (start a business with no more than $50 investment, set it up in 24 hours, and make money with no website), then Arbitrage Conspiracy is NOT for you!

You don’t need to invest in a 12-week content-packed course to learn how to do that. You could go buy a $47 ebook on ClickBank and learn the basics of PPC.

So who is this for?

In my opinion, Arbitrage Conspiracy is for anyone who wants to go BEYOND the level I just described above.

It’s for marketers who understand that they have to spend more money on PPC in order to make more profits.

It’s for marketers who are not afraid of embracing new technology and methods.

It’s for marketers who can imagine themselves making $100k a day.

And it’s especially for marketers who already know how to create a profitable PPC campaign. If you fit that description, Arbitrage Conspiracy is a good choice for you, because it will show you how to take those same campaigns and crank them up to the next level, and then to the next level, etc.

Without a doubt, I would say this is the highest level of PPC education ever offered.

Whether you’re an intermediate PPC user, looking to ramp up to the next level, or a Fortune 500 CEO looking to figure out how these Internet geeks are making more money than your entire company… I recommend this course for you.

Happy Thanksgiving 2008

November 27, 2008 – 5:20 pm

(In case you saw the original title of this post “Happy Thanksgiving 2009″, there’s a simple explanation. I had just finished Thanksgiving dinner and sat down on the couch to hurriedly type this post. Apparently all that turkey tryptophan got to my brain, because I forgot what year it was and didn’t realize it until the comments started coming in ;) )

I try to avoid making the cliché “holiday blog posts”. After all, do you really need to read ANOTHER sappy “I’m so thankful for…” article?

And in the Internet marketing world the way it usually works is the marketer says… Happy thanksgiving, now go buy this.

The fact is, I am incredibly grateful for my life and the people in it. But I’ll spare you the stereotypical thanksgiving “stuffing”, because I want to do something a little different.

First, I want everyone who reads this newsletter to know that I’m thankful for YOU. Without you, Eric’s Tips wouldn’t exist.

Here’s a FREE small gift as a token of my appreciation. It’s an ebook called Firesale Profits Revealed. I’ve made tens of thousands of dollars from quick little firesales, so this ebook talks about how to do it (Note: I didn’t write it… it was ghost written)…

Click Here to Download Now (Includes Master Resale Rights)

It also comes with Master Resale Rights and a full sales page for you to sell it from. Here’s the rights…

[YES] Can resell it and keep 100% of the profits
[YES] Can sell resale rights
[YES] Can give it away
[YES] Can bundle with other products
[YES] Can use as bonus
[YES] Can add to membership site
[NO] Includes Private Label Rights

Second, instead of making a huge list of things I’m thankful for, I want to know what YOU are thankful for. Please post in the comments below what you are thankful for.

UPDATE:

Thank you so much to every one who posted a comment below. Many of them brought tears to my eyes. I’m sure the comments have touched and inspired hundreds of people who have read through them.

I honestly did not know what to expect. I knew I would get some comments, but the depth and sincerity of them really surprised me, particularly in light of the difficult time the world is currently going through.

Thank you for reminding me that the difficult times reveal to us what we have to be thankful for.

There were so many great comments… honorable mentions include Michael Robinson, Keith, Michaela, Ron, Simon W Rosenberg DMD, Ray, Pete Bass, Glenn Hughes, Carol Huskison, and too many others to mention them all.

My “runner up” would be Scott, whose website is Ask the Wealth Squad, who said:

I am thankful for

The pain I sometimes wake up to make me enjoy the freedom of pain.

My divorce for making me realize what was missing in my life - a strong relationship with God and his son Jesus

My recent layoff from work which gave me time to think about what I wanted to do with my life when I grow up (Currently age 40 but not wanting to grow up just yet)

The recent drop in the stock market as it created the realization that invested in ourselves in the best stock to buy.

The courts for granting me custody of my wonderful son 13 years ago.

My parents for feeding me while I am laid off

My years of plenty and God’s wisdom to store some wealth so that I can live for a bit without worry.

The worry that comes from that time I can live on my savings which gives me courage to do something new.

My friends and family for doubting me when I was young as it gave me the strength to succeed.

My dogs who love me no matter what the world does.

The USA and the opportunities it brings to anyone who is willing to work and sacrifice.

Our soldiers who have died protecting those rights.

The 2nd Amendment which protects us from our government reaching too far.

The Constitution and the brilliance it brings to our lives.

Austrian economics to understand business cycles and realize that this too shall pass.

Your website and the generosity you show - and the realization that you can be focused on doing good in the world and making a profit at it.

The interest and the ease of access to information to see how the world really works.

My travels overseas to fully understand how different our country is.

For my website which is still a work in progress - so this post has to stir me to action to finish it :-)

For God sending his son to suffer and die for me.

For every breath
For every step
For every tear
For every pain
For every fear
For every doubter

For without struggle how can we say we have overcome? How can we know victory without knowing loss?

We fail not when we fall but when we don’t get up.

Scott

For the “winning” comment, I am choosing Kathryn Duerst, whose comment embodies the spirit of thankfulness. Thank you for reminding me to take a second look to see the divine.

Kathryn said,

Gratefulness is the ability to see the good in every circumstance, as even the hard times and trials are intended by God to shape us into His beautiful image and build our character. This is what I have heard all my life, but it does not come naturally without the practice of seeing as He sees. At first glance, I see the human side only, and it takes a second look to see the divine.

At first glance, I see the folks I care for at my jobs, elderly and handicapped people, and I think how difficult it must be for them to live in a body that does not perform as one wishes it could. Then I recall my training, that these people are gifted and special, and I am to come alongside as a friend, enjoying them and the value they contribute to my life. They do not want pity.

Seeing the one who has his feeding through a tube, I am grateful I can taste food and feel it going down my throat. Seeing the one who depends on me to be his eyes, I relish the many beautiful colors, shapes, lights, and bright eyes I can see. Seeing those who must move slowly in a wheelchair or with a cane, I exult in my bouncing steps down the hallway to answer the next call. These people make me know how good I have it.

And I wonder, if I was in their situation, would I be as pleasant? The blind man is so full of stories, memories from almost a century of life. He is one of my favorite people.

The one who gets a tube feeding every morning is so sweet and cooperative as I brush his teeth, lift him to his bath, and pour rinse water over his head; he trusts me completely. What faith! He seems grateful to have me there to help. I get to feel very needed and useful.
Then I think how much we all depend on each other. I depend on people like Eric to teach me everything about Internet marketing; without a mentor, I would be very handicapped online. I am so grateful there are people with a spirit of giving, to help me see hope in my circumstances. They breathe the divine viewpoint into my perspective.

So I am not just a struggling laborer, working for ten dollars an hour, 60 hours a week, a single parent of seven, wondering when I will get my lucky break. I am part of a divine drama in which God has me and others doing whatever most demonstrates His love to one another each moment.

I am grateful I can serve and help the people I care for, and I am grateful I have some time left over after all the hours I put in at work to pay the bills, so I can be with my family a little while, and I can work online, too, for the day my online business will free me to be wherever I am needed most, just because I want to be.

This evening, I am spending the time with my family and the family of my daughter’s fiancé, and I have a few days off before the wedding to prepare for it. I feel incredibly blessed to enjoy this special time and relish it, because in a few days, the happy couple will be moving 2000 miles away, and I will be working hard to be able to afford to visit them whenever I want to. Gratefulness makes the most of what I have now, and it sees the potential in the future. I am grateful for these blessings.

Kathryn from Minnesota

I will be mailing Kathryn the Traffic Stampede course as a prize.

Although the contest is over, it’s not too late to post your comment of thankfulness. I know I will return to this page for inspiration when I’m feeling discouraged. You might want to bookmark it and do the same.

Have a great day and a happy Thanksgiving!

LESSON #28: Building a Website With HTML

November 25, 2008 – 1:15 pm

In the previous lesson I talked about 5 different ways to build a website.

Today I’m going to be covering one of those methods in more depth. More specifically, I’m going to show you how to build a website from scratch using HTML without any special tools…

(Watch this video…)

Main points:

  • Even if you don’t plan on building your own websites, it is helpful to know some basic HTML if you are an Internet marketer.

  • If you’re new to HTML, it’s probably easier than you think.

  • HTML = HyperText Markup Language.

  • Tags = < >

  • You can use Notepad, which is found on almost all Windows computers

    I recommend Notepad++:

    http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/download.php

  • (See HTML page building demonstration in video)

NOTE: Regarding my instructions in the video… In order to change the file extension from .txt to .html you must have your file extensions visible.

    For Windows XP go to:

Tools >> Folder Options >> Click the “View” tab >> Make sure there is NO checkmark by “Hide extensions for known file types”

    For Windows Vista:

    1. Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.

    2. Click the View tab, and then, under Advanced settings clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box, and then click OK.

  • You can test the “validity” of your HTML at:

    http://validator.w3.org

  • But it’s generally OK if your code isn’t totally valid (most of my sites aren’t), as long as it looks OK in all the major browsers…

  • You can test your website on multiple browsers for free at:

    http://browsershots.org/

  • You can learn everything you need to know about HTML for free on the web. Here are some places to start:

http://www.w3schools.com (My favorite… Great resource for CSS and PHP too)

    also http://htmldog.com

    Action step:

    1) Create a web page using HTML.

The next step will be to upload your new page to the web, and I’ll be covering that in the next lesson.

As always, you are welcome to post your questions and comments below :-)

    Have a great day!

  • LESSON #27: 5 Ways to Build a Website

    November 20, 2008 – 1:32 pm

Back in lesson 23 I talked about why you need to have your own website.

Since then, we’ve covered several of the prerequisites for having a website (getting a domain, hosting, etc). Today we’re going to talk about your options for building a website, and then we’re going to make it a reality.

    (Watch this video…)

    Main points:

  • I often prefer to launch a website before the product is done because…

    - Getting your website online is a milestone
    - You can start marketing it before the product is done

  • Note: Website vs. web page (a web page is just one page)

  • Ways to build a website:

    1) Build it from scratch (using a web language like HTML)

Do you need to know HTML to be an internet marketer? No, but it can be very helpful.

    2) Use a web authoring program (ex. An HTML editor such as FrontPage)

WYSIWYG = What You See is What You Get (ex. NVU)

    3) Use a template or site builder (ex. HostGator’s site builder)

    Template = shortcut

My favorite site builder for non-techies: XSitePro

    4) Use a script or CMS (ex. WordPress)

Great website script for internet marketers: Butterfly Marketing

    Forums: phpBB, Vbulletin, etc.

WordPress: my favorite free publishing application

    5) Outsource it (pay someone else to do it for you)

    Action step:

    1) Choose a method that you will use to build your website

Think about all these options, do some research if you need to, and choose ONE to start with. We’ll start building your website in the next lesson.

By the way, if you DO have a website already… be sure comment and let us know what worked or didn’t work well for you!

As always, you are welcome to post your questions and comments below :-)

    Have a great day!

  • The Ultimate Search Engine Loophole Reviewed

    November 5, 2008 – 11:59 pm

I wasn’t planning on reviewing this. Normally, when I review a product it’s either because someone asked me to promote their product, or because my subscribers have asked me to check something out and provide my opinion.

In this case, I actually purchased the product for my own use without expecting to review it. But after taking a look at it, I decided it would be worth reviewing it for you.

The product is called The Ultimate Search Engine Loophole, and I purchased it solely because of the claims made in the sales letter.

    Essentially the claim is this:

Using their secret method you can rank #1 for any keyword on the MSN search engine.

For me the decision to buy it was simple…

I spend hundreds of dollars every day on clicks from search engines. I also don’t enjoy spending a lot of time on SEO. So the opportunity to get organic traffic by exploiting a search engine “loophole” is obviously very attractive. Their price of $67 for this information made it a no-brainer. The investment will pay for itself within one day of free traffic… if the system actually works.

    So the question is…

Did the product meet my expectations, and does it work?

I’ve got some good news and a couple of warnings.

The good news is that the method seems to be totally legitimate. I’ve seen some products in the past that I decided not to even review because they were just a total waste of time (like all the “get Free Google Adwords” junk). This is not one of those.

They are very clear on the sales page that this is not a “course”. It’s a 20 page PDF that reveals a “trade secret”. That much I can verify. The method is concise, and while it is somewhat technical in nature, it’s fairly simple if you understand the basics of website building.

The warnings are that there were a couple of important points that the sales letter seemed to gloss over.

Warning #1: You have to buy something else to take full advantage of the method.

The sales letter states “If you follow the blueprint and set up your “linkubaiter” exactly how we show you, there’s simply no way you won’t see results.”

What they don’t tell you is that you have to purchase the “linkubaiter” separately. You can get it during the one time offer for $47, or for $97 if you decide to buy it later.

As stated in the one-time offer, you DON’T necessarily have to user the linkubaiter (which is a software program sold by the author). The PDF does include instructions for using the method without the linkubaiter.

However, if you decide to use the non-linkubaiter version of their method, you still have to buy an additional plugin, which came as a bit of a surprise to me.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with having to buy something else, as long as the expectation is not set to the contrary. So I guess it’s up to you to decide whether my expectations were unrealistic to begin with.

I’m sure I’ve been guilty of doing similar things with some of my products and sales letters (it’s easy to set your customers expectations too high when you’re selling information), so it’s a good reminder for me to feel what it’s like to be on the consumer side of the transaction.

And to their credit, the linkubaiter is a perfectly executed upsell. It’s tied directly to the main offer, and makes you feel the need to buy it. And they’re not paying their affiliates commission on the upsell, so I’m sure they’re making as much profit from it as they are from the front end offer (I mention this because it’s an interesting example of a profitable OTO for you to study).

In addition to this, you will need to have several domains and seperate C-class hosting for them. For someone like me who has tons of extra domains lying around, it’s not a problem. But if you’re looking at startup expenses, it’s something you would need to consider.

    OK, so here’s the 2nd warning…

The sales letter implies that the method is completely innocuous… saying it’s not even “grey hat”.

After all, they say “we’re actually not abusing or violating MSN in any way.” The sales letter also states “we are not scraping content”.

However, part of the method does involve scraping content from another site… which probably violates the TOS of that other site.

If you’re a serious internet marketer who understands that even the search engines themselves are content scrapers, then it’s probably not a problem for you.

The context in which they are scraping is not blatantly “abusive” in my opinion, and I’d be willing to give it a try. But they really shouldn’t be calling this a white hat method. I’d say it’s grey.

OK, so in spite of these slight “misunderstandings”… is the product worth it?

If you’re an established internet marketer, I’d say yes it’s worth it. Just keep in mind that this is a traffic TACTIC and not a foundational component of your business. While the author states that he is not worried about MSN getting wise to the loophole at any point in the near future, I wouldn’t be so certain.

I’ve been around this game long enough to know that these kind of tactics can get wiped out overnight.

But that’s not a reason to avoid it. After all, if you know a way of getting free traffic NOW, you should do it!

Who is this product NOT for?

This product is not for people who don’t know how to set up a one page website. In other words, it’s not for the rank beginner.

    Who is this product for?

This product is for someone who knows how to set up a website (knowing how to install a WordPress blog is helpful too). Additionally, you should have a method of monetization for your website, whether that be a product of your own, an affiliate promotion, or contextual ads. And as mentioned in the review, you’ll need a little startup capital beyond the price of the information.

If you meet the above criteria, and you want to grab some MSN search engine rankings, I recommend this product for you.

You’ll also have the advantage of going into it with your eyes wide open, thanks to my purchase experience ;-)

Click here for The Ultimate Search Engine Loophole

The method is supposed to take between one week and two months to grab your rankings, so let me know how it works for you.

As always, you are welcome to leave your comments here on the blog.

    Have a great day!
