Landing Page Monkey – Review and Demo

My friends Jeremy Gislason and Simon Hodgkinson just released a new web-based application called “Landing Page Monkey“, so I decided to try it out.

If you’ve been a reader/subscriber of my tips for any length of time, you’ll know that I’m always harping on list building. I know I may sound like a broken record at times, but that’s not going to change. List building is and always will be a fundamental part of this business.

The communication channels may change, and some of the methods may change over time, but the old Internet marketing adage is the same… the money is in the list. Therefore I’m always keen on new ways to improve list building.

I’m happy to report that Landing Page Monkey is a great tool for quickly building effective landing pages using cutting-edge templates and tactics that are working right now.

Here’s a quick demo video that I made to show you just how easily you can create squeeze pages (and other landing pages) with this app…

As you saw in the video above, one of the “coolest” features of Landing Page Monkey is the ability to put any video (including YouTube videos) in the background of your landing page.

In addition to the type of landing page I made in the video, here are a few more of the many possible ways to use this tool…

Example #1
This example shows how a brick-and-mortar business could create a landing page to build a list of prospects for advertising via coupons through email or text message. It’s a very simple but elegant design which uses a background image, and a semi-transparent light box. When the button is clicked, the opt-in form appears…

Example #2
This one is a video landing page, using a “VSL” style video. This particular example uses a giveaway, which is a great way to maximize your opt-in conversion rate in many consumer-driven niches…
landing page screenshot

Example #3
This one has a full motion video in the background. Instead of just a “background video” like in my demo above, this landing page utilizes a video that is designed to capture attention and point the visitor to the opt-in box…
landing page screenshot

Example #4
This landing page has a trailer (from YouTube) of a new video game. Instead of an opt-in form, when a visitor clicks the button, they are taken immediately to a purchase page for the product via an affiliate link. This opens up unlimited possibilities for affiliate marketers. You can now easily create video-based landing pages for anything you want to promote. All you have to do is find a video that fits with the product…

Example #5
Here is a landing page that is being used in conjunction with a CPA offer. A custom background image is used, with a video opt-in form on the left side of the page. The video is from YouTube, and the button goes directly to the CPA offer via an affiliate link…

Those are just a handful of examples of what Landing Page Monkey can do; you’re only limited by your own imagination.

Another feature that I appreciate is the built-in conversion tracking.

Unlike other web-based landing page tools which often charge a monthly fee (and require continued payment or your pages stop working), Landing Page Monkey can be joined for a relatively small one-time payment.

For what it does, and with such an affordable price, I give this one a hearty two thumbs up and my solid recommendation.

Speaking of monkeys, here are a few that I saw in India last month.

Hi Eric, isn’t this similar to Simple Video Pro? What would be the benefit of this to SVP?

    Thanks,
    Shane

It looks like it does some of the same things. SVP is a little more complex of a product, it is not solely designed for landing pages like this one is, and also it is quite a bit more expensive.

        Hi Eric,
Where can we find the 12 lessons on list building? I did a search on your tips site and could not find it.

Quick question Eric. The software have the option of adding a exit splash.

    Reply
    1. Eric Post author

I don’t see that option. However it would be as simple as using the URL of the page in your exit splash script. In that instance you could even have Landing Page Monkey host the page for you.

    Hi Eric,
This looks like a really interesting product. I usually create my landing pages, optins etc directly in WordPress.
I have recently given Leadpages a serious look – purely based on the benefits of ‘speed of implementation’ that Leadpages offers plus the A/B split testing feature and (far) better analytics compared to Facebook’s.
But obviously this all comes at cost – $477 on the annual plan. I will probably invest in LPM, as it’s currently at such a riduculously cheap price!!
One question, what are the the upsells? I’ve looked on Munch Eye and know the pricing ($97 and $17) but that is all. I would appreciate any insights you have. Whilst upsells don’t necessarily make or break whether I invest in a product, I do find it useful to have that knowledge before I enter a sales funnel!
Thank you for all that you do to help other marketers, I pray God continues to mightily Bless you and your family

$97 offer is a lifetime membership to Automated List Profits which is a PLR club with reports, squeeze pages etc.

$67 offer is for RapidMailer which is a self-hosted autoresponder product.

$17 offer is advanced training on email marketing, and some bonuses.

        Thanks for the info Eric,
I’m just checking out the Automated List Profits site, which given that the regular price is £37 a month, makes the ‘one off’ payment quite enticing 🙂

Is this a wordpress plug in that can be used for your website? I am glad to know that it’s only a one time fee and not recurring like instapages and lead pages are.

    1. Eric Post author

It is not a WP plugin, as it’s a stand alone web based app. However it’s very easy to use it along with WP. There is a 3 minute video in the member’s area showing how to upload the landing pages to WP.

Hi Eric, I was considering this and was also looking at a wp product called video press..

I will be using mostly for landing/squeeze pages to build my list. Also will this allow you to make download.thank you pages to use in redirects after lead opts in?

I seen others using something like this, I think video press for their download page/thnk you page with a video background.

    Thanks

    1. Eric Post author

Yes you can use it to make thank-you pages, in fact that is one of the examples they give on their sales page. Look for the one that says “thank you” and it features a download button for a PDF.

    Hi Eric,

I bought Landing Page Monkey through your affiliate link. The sales page said that the download button for the bonuses are next to the JVZoo receipt, but I can’t find it there. I have contacted MemberSupportSite.com to inquire about this issue. They suggested me to contact the affiliate directly (which in my case is you). Could you please help me to resolve this issue? Thanking you in advance.

      Thank you for ordering 🙂
      Try going to: https://customer.jvzoo.com/portal/purchases
Look for Landing Page Monkey and click to view details. There should be a link to the bonuses on the following page. Let me know if not. Thanks

        Dear Eric,

My apology for the delayed response. It’s there! Apparently it took sometime for JVZoo.com before the link appears on the view purchase details. Again thank you for your response.

    Does lpm support a/b testing?

    Reply
    1. Eric Post author

Simple split testing would be a breeze with LPM…

Create a page… clone it and in the clone (you can have as many as you like) change the headlines or graphics (or whatever is being split tested) download the pages to your server and then add those links into your split test system.

Just like any regular html / link based split test script.

One little bonus is LPM already has all the basic tracking and conversion stats covered (most people really don’t split test) it shows page impressions, actions (how many button clicks etc.)

and they also provide a tracking pixel to add to success pages so real conversions (not just actions) can be tracked.

    Hi Eric,

I was just wondering, other than price, how does this compare to LeadPages service?

    Thanks

    1. Eric Post author

Leadpages is great, but it’s more expensive and beyond the reach of many users so the pricing issue really is #1

      – The second key difference is the way it works.

Leadpages relies entirely on templates and they are quite rigid in what can be done

      – if you don’t want your page to look the same as everyone else then you’re out of luck with leadpages.

With LPM they wanted things to be flexible enough so that no one has to have the same looking page and of course the big one is full screen video backgrounds

      – there are no templates inside LeadPages that do this.

I was just looking at the upcoming instabuilder 2.0 .. How would you contrast that with this page builder? IT appears to me that instabuilder is a powerhouse.

    Reply
    1. Eric Post author

Don’t really know… haven’t looked at Instabuilder closely and the site appears to be offline a lot today.
but it’s from a reliable team so suspect it’ll be a good product…

However the main difference is to use it you have to install WordPress, you need a hosting account and that adds additional costs, management time and knowledge before you even get started

      – for instance a complete newbie would need to know how to get a hosting account and set it up, they would then need to learn how to install wordpress and a plugin and would have to constantly ensure that their installation was updated…

With LPM there is none of that, it’s a complete ready to go service and with the free page hosting users don’t even need a hosting account to start building pages and collecting leads.

So cost/time and reduced learning curve are probably the biggest points.

hi Eric….will this work with Optimize Press?

    Reply
    1. Eric Post author

Optimize Press is a WP theme, so… it’s not going to interface with Optimize Press itself, however, LPM can easily be used with any WordPress blog/site. There is a video in the LPM members area showing how to easily integrate any LPM pages into your WordPress blog.

Hi Eric, could you explain what is the difference between the RapidMailer which is a self-hosted autoresponder product and the platform offer by Aweber?
Thanks for your very helpful review of PLM.

For most people, I do not recommend a self-hosted platform for your list building and email marketing. There are a few reasons for this. One is deliverability. Highly reputable providers such as AWeber maintain relationships with all the major ISP’s/email providers, which allows your email to reach peoples’ inboxes. Another reason is spam complaints. If you get accused of spamming (even if it was opt-in) and the email is coming from your own server, your host may shut you down. If you have a small list (like under 1000) and you don’t plan on it EVER getting bigger than that, then a self-hosted solution is reasonable in my opinion. But for the long term viability of your business, I generally recommend a solution like AWeber.

If I subscribe to LPM, would I still need to subscribe to a hosting company such as Hostgator or Bluehost or would that not be necessary?

I believe they do have a hosted option for your pages, but I would definitely still recommend subscribing to a hosting company so you can have it on your own domain.
