Let Them See You Sweat
I’ve decided to tell you about a difficult situation I’ve been experiencing lately, but I want to tie it into a quick lesson… after all, the main objective of this website is to provide you with Internet marketing tips.
Let’s start with a flashback to the 1980’s…
From what I gather, the phrase “never let them see you sweat” originated from a deodorant commercial in 1984. While I may have been exposed to it as a 5-year old during commercial breaks between Saturday morning cartoons, I certainly have no recollection of it.
I do, however, remember hearing this phrase spoken from the stage at an Internet marketing seminar several years ago. Apparently after serving its duty as a deodorant slogan, “never let them see you sweat” became a business principle of sorts.
The idea is that you should never let your ________(fill in the blank) see you “sweat”, because it is basically a sign of weakness. This includes customers, prospects, fans, followers, competitors, subordinates, and bosses… just to name a few.
In other words, you don’t want to let any of those people see your weak side, because it will affect their opinion of you.
The speaker at the Internet marketing seminar was teaching that you should never appear to be frazzled or portray a lack of confidence in the projection of your image to your online prospects and subscribers. Instead, you should always appear to “have it all together”.
There are times when this makes sense. Anyone in a leadership role (whether it be a parent, T-ball coach, or President of the United States) must instill confidence in the minds of those he or she is leading. To this end, there are times that it is appropriate to hide your emotions and appear to have it all together.
I would even go so far as to say there are situations in which you should never let them see you sweat. For example, if you’re in a war, you shouldn’t let your enemy see you sweat. Revealing a weakness could mean instant death.
If you ever have to hire a lawyer, you probably don’t want one who sweats profusely and exudes a lack of confidence in the courtroom.
I’m also aware that marketing can be likened to war, but I propose that the concept of “hiding your sweat” is overrated as it pertains to business.
Things to consider when hiding your sweat…
First, there’s an inherent problem with never showing weakness. The problem is that we’re human. We have weaknesses.
To confess weakness is to accept that you are human. This can have a positive effect, because humans can relate to other humans. As a marketer, this can be advantageous in gaining trust and portraying authenticity.
I will admit that revealing weaknesses can also have a negative effect upon a business. I remember a few times in recent years that the stock of the Apple company plunged as a result of negative news about Steve Jobs’ health. Last month Apple lost $10 billion of market capitalization in 5 minutes, possibly due to a health rumor.
Those are serious consequences, but publicly traded companies have an obligation to their shareholders to reveal certain “weaknesses”. To avoid doing so could be unethical at best, criminal at worst. Therefore, revealing a weakness can actually be a sign of integrity.
Second, it’s a myth that showing emotion (ie. letting them see you sweat) is always a sign of weakness. While much of our society does believe this myth (and unfortunately this may result in negative consequences for leaders who show emotions publicly), there are plenty of examples of leaders who have dispelled it.
I watch very little TV, but last week I turned it on and caught the second half of an episode of Undercover Boss. This episode featured Sheldon Yellen, the CEO of Belfor– a huge international company. Throughout his undercover experience, some of his own weaknesses were revealed (inability to use power tools, disconnection from his own employees), and his emotions ran wild… this guy cried like a baby on national TV!
While this may have been interpreted by some as a sign of weakness, I’d be willing to bet that his display of authenticity did more to instill confidence in his employees than any motivational speech he could have possibly delivered. It appeared that his employees loved him more for it, and were more committed to the company as a result.
This goes along with what I wrote earlier this year about authenticity. It’s no longer enough to say you’re real. You have to BE real.
So next time you’re faced with concealing a weakness versus showing your humanity, keep these ideas in mind and remember that it may or may not be best to hide your sweat.

In case you hadn’t perceived it already; I wrote the above article as a way of processing my own thoughts, and justifying my decision to share my own weakness with you.
The reason I haven’t written much lately, and haven’t created any new lessons in the past few months is because I haven’t had the energy to do it.
I’ve been experiencing what is probably best described as Adrenal Fatigue. In case you’re curious about it, there is a very good article explaining it here: http://www.lammd.com/articles/adrenal_fatigue.asp
I’ve had several symptoms, including a severe lack of energy. Those of you who know me, know that I’ve enjoyed an active lifestyle which included frequent exercise, fishing, windsurfing, playing with my kids, etc. Lately, I’ve only had a few hours of workable energy per day, and it’s barely been enough to take care of myself and keep up with email, let alone do the stuff I enjoy.
In my case, I believe this condition is most likely the result of many years of poor sleep habits, constant blood sugar spikes, and internalizing my stress and anxiety.
Various medical tests showed that my adrenals simply aren’t doing what they’re supposed to do… resulting in various chemical imbalances in my body. For example, I’m not producing much cortisol, which has several physical ramifications. To aggravate the situation, my adrenals are compensating by producing too much epinephrine (adrenaline), which results in a lot of anxiety and psychosomatic symptoms.
I’m following what I believe is a good treatment plan, and I expect to make a full recovery!
Of course it’s been tough in the mean time. My wife is expecting our 5th child any day now, and I’ve had to grapple with the question of how am I going to help and support her like I did at the birth of our other four kids?
So you can see why I’ve put business stuff on the backburner. By the way, other than neglecting this website, my business is just fine, and I think it would run for many years with minimal input on my part. That’s one of the benefits of building the type of business that I teach in my lessons! 
(Note: I do not anticipate my coaching club being negatively impacted during my recovery. Paul and Jeff already handle most of the time-consuming elements of it, and in any case that I’m unable to be on a coaching call, they’ll be there.)
OK, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way…
I want to convey that I know life is hard for EVERYONE. Your pain is probably worse than mine, and it’s a part of our human experience.
I’ve had friends and relatives die in the time that I’ve been writing tips on this website.
I’ve also had subscribers die, and I’d be willing to bet that not a day goes by without some of my subscribers experiencing a tragedy of some sort. With over 60,000 subscribers around the world, it’s pretty much a given.
I also know fellow Internet marketers who have been through, or are currently experiencing MUCH more difficult circumstances than I am. Some of them are battling cancer, chronic diseases, and some have already died.
So this is NOT about me complaining. It’s also not about seeking sympathy. Prayers maybe, but not sympathy. I’m thankful for all that I’ve been given, and I KNOW that I am indeed blessed.
This post is about me being a little more real with you. I say a “little more”, because there are certainly other things that I haven’t shared with you about my life.
In the past couple years, I’ve been compelled to be “more real” when it comes to my public life. Perhaps this is a step in that direction.
Showing my sweat to keep myself humble?
I’ve probably participated in our culture’s collective move toward Internet-enabled narcissism more than I would like to admit.
The phenomenon of online narcissism is well documented, and you’ll see it everywhere if you look for it. People use their blogs, Facebook accounts, twitter accounts, and other public-facing avenues of communication to control their image. They provide only the information (status updates, pictures, etc) that they believe will best conform their image to the way that they want it to be seen.
Went on a cool vacation? Post it. Had a great dinner? Post it. Hung out with a celebrity? Post it. Got angry with your child or spouse, lost your temper, and broke something? No one needs to know.
I despise it, and yet I’ve been a purveyor of it. In one respect I’ve even taught it.
So yes, this is me keeping myself humble. Believe me, I’d much rather be known as the energetic windsurfing family man, than the tired Internet marketer who burned out his adrenal glands.
I also had one more ulterior motive for sharing this with you. I knew it would give me an excuse to share my faith with you too.
OK, this is where I’m gonna hijack this conversation and get “religious” on you…
No, I’m not turning this into a religious website. Based on the demographics, I’m aware that I have thousands of subscribers who are Muslim, Hindu, and no-doubt countless other faiths represented. I’m not here to force my convictions upon you, and I never will.
But I didn’t want to share my pain with you, unless I also shared my hope with you. In fact, it wouldn’t be right, because it would be a totally incomplete picture.
I believe that there is a spiritual realm that supersedes the physical world as we know it.
In spite of how I feel, I’m actually healthy and strong. In spite of what our society says, perception is not reality. In spite of what my doctor’s reports say, there is a greater truth to be found.
Of course many religions share this sentiment, as do believers in the Law of Attraction, which has become so popular in the Internet marketing world. But here’s where I part ways with those folks…
You might think I’m crazy, but I believe that approximately 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ (the actual son of God) came to earth, died on a cross, and came back to life again. That’s reality. And if that’s true, then the Bible is totally validated, and it’s true too.
The ramifications are huge. The Bible says that the same power that raised Jesus from death is available to me, and in fact is already inside of me (Romans 8:11)! While it is controversial even among Christianity, I believe the most accurate interpretation of the Bible proves that Christ’s atonement included healing for sickness.
I’ve seen first-hand that God still heals people today. In our church we see people healed every week. Some are healed from small things, and some are healed from big things like cancer and heart disease. We’ve seen numerous verifiable x-rays and doctor’s reports which have confirmed miraculous healings.
I share this to let you know that not only has my healing been paid for by Christ; yours has too.

Oh Eric, I’m so sorry to hear about your adrenal fatigue! I just went through a really nasty bout with it myself at the beginning of the year, and it really set me back. Not even having the energy to sit up and work at a computer is unbelievably disheartening. Like you, I used to be very active (I could hike 10 miles a day with a pack, no problem), so it really blindsided me when I couldn’t hardly climb my own stairs! I’m glad to see that you’ve found capable medical care, and I wish you a speedy recovery!

Thanks for being honest. Most top Internet marketers never reveal any signs of weakness and it makes the rest of feel that we’re not good enough or dedicated enough to do what they do.
I suffer from the same type of health issues that you do and it has radically changed my life. I have had to learn to accept the fact that “my best” will never be as much as other people can do but that it is enough for me. At least with Internet marketing we have the opportunity to work less and still earn a good income.

Will keep you and your family in my prayers. I too have 5 children (all within 6 years) so I know those early years are tough. Best wishes for a quick recovery, and glad to see you sharing your faith.
I have Chronic Fatigue (since 1991) and I know how you feel. I’ve worked 13 years hard labor doing office furniture and almost 12 years at University Nevada Reno. I have normal days and very bad days. But we make it each day through the Lord Jesus Christ. Our illness makes us more dependent on him. I still use energy pills as jobs don’t care about your problems. I had a (ex)wife that is bi-polar /schizophrenia with two small children to take care of during those 22 years. Going to Doctors wasn’t an option and all they want to give is psycho drugs that you couldn’t work on. At 53, it also gets harder. Getting rid of all sugar helps as well as keeping a diary. With losing my job at the end of June, I have stress and anxiety and yet I have peace and reassurance in the Lord. Here’s to two years of unemployment after 25 years of straight working!
I just want to express a huge thank you for the many easy to follow tutorials over the years. The information on your site have helped me, and I sure many others, find answers to questions both large and small. And now in your time of need, you continue to provide inspiration to the public.

Thanks. Actually I have looked into Lyme disease, and possibility of parasites picked up from my various travels… because the symptoms are similar, and also can lead to adrenal fatigue. If the treatment plan does not work then my doctor says we’ll look for parasites. I wish it were a parasite because it would be an easy answer, but I think my situation is a result of long-term habits which must be changed.
What kind of doctor are you going to? What specialty?
He’s basically a holistic doctor, trained in both traditional and holistic medicine. A balance of both in my opinion. His speciality is basically restorative medicine. He’s actually open to the possibility of Lyme, which shows he’s forward thinking, especially considering Colorado is not known for it. If his plan doesn’t work, I’ll certainly be looking for specialists.

I’m also certain the principals in the Bible reflect the reality of the universe, meaning that the Bible and its promises and assertions are true. Most people don’t believe that around the world. But one of the principles is that God gives people the choice to believe or not. Sorry to hear you are going through so much. I know it is a fine line as to what to share with your customers. You are not looking for sympathy and you don’t want people to think that you are less capable. I know it was a hard call with my business as I am the business. I was away from home in children’s hospital with my daughter. I did not want others to think I was incapable of keeping my commitments. I took the chance and told my clients what was going on. They stuck through it with me. It has been almost a year and I am finally finishing off all the kitchens I had orders for. I was truly blessed with all these great people who did not give up on me.
Now I am ready to do the online portion of my business and it will have an inspirational and human side to it. This will enable me to spend more time with my special daughter.

SECOND, Godly healing is a fact, recorded many times in the Bible and seen even to this day. Since God is the creator of all things, even the healing that medical or nature sciences can bring, ultimately comes from God’s creation and/or medical knowledge that God has allowed us to learn.

I hope that you might consider your mission trips to the tropics are indirectly or… directly responsible for your Adrenal problems.
In other words the Adrenal problem is a symptom of something you picked up in the jungle that is not detectable by conventional diagnostic procedures.
Conventional medicine misses much more than they will admit.
I have heard of a situation very similar to yours…a jungle trip( with all the vaccinations)then unexplained adrenal problems 6mo 9mo 1 yr after returning home.
Please don’t dismiss alternative/complimentary medicine for diagnosis and treatment in your situation.

He told us why Japan got hit. He had just left there 4 hrs before it happened.
Japan had decided to side against Israel’s border boundaries. He found that out about a week later from a contact in Washington DC.
He was affraid he had ‘missed’ God on his mission there, and that was why it happened.

I do agree that you may have peicked up something in the tropics. I came back from Brazil once with what was diagnosed as chronic fatigue (for the want of a better diagnosis)–muscle aches, extreme fatigue, fevers on and off,etc. God bless– you’ll be healed. I don’t share your views on Jesus and I’ve done considerable research on the subject, but I would recommend getting hold of the original translations, directly from Aramaic to English. You will be deeply inspired as a Christian, I assure you. You can get them from any large Theosophical Society bookstore.
It was established a very long time ago that 75% to 80% of all our ills are psychosomatic. You could ponder on that.
You know the Royal Family of England, they are very healthy people and live to a very old age. Well, the Royal Physician is a Homeopath. The Royal Family exclusively use Homeopathics.
When I was 22 I was diagnosed to have a fatal illness, a not an uncommon illness. I had received the extent of treatment of western medicine. I was given any where from that day to 3 months to live. I am now 56. I have not used western medicine since that day. I have used Traditional (English) Herbal Medicine which is absolutely miraculous, but didn’t hit the nail on the head, so I moved onto Homeopathics which was also awesome but didn’t hit the nail on the head. Then I went into Bach Flower Remedies, and even became a Practitioner and made them myself.
A Bach Flower Remedy called “Rescue Remedy” brought me back to life after a total nervous system collapse, that was after all known Western Medicines had no effect on me.
I had actually left my body and ascended to Heaven when the Rescue Remedy was applied too my body and I came back to Earth and my body.
Heaven was, for, me the ultimate experience; perfect!
I wore a little bottle of that Rescue Remedy around my neck for years until I discovered Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, and that allowed me to throw that bottle away. But, I was not treated for a physiological disorder, nor any disorder, just for energy or, as you put it, spiritual imbalance. I was very lucky to have been treated by a very old, chain smoking, Professor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) who had escaped China during the Cultural Revolution.
In my very first treatment I spent 12 hours, 3 sessions, crying, then 2 more sessions laughing. Then I had course of weekly treatments over 6 months until I was fully healed, physically. I was at the time an Organic Pig and Vegetable Farmer and I could then lift a big drum of diesel fuel oil effortlessly; miraculous! However I still had the psychological predisposition.
I was no longer in fear of dying. I studied and practiced many spiritual mind body processes over many years and some of them are very effective indeed, but the most effective of all were two. Firstly, a meditation that is the biggest organisation of its kind on the planet headed by Guru Mahariji, the name of the organisation is Elan Vital. Check it out. I practiced the meditation for 12 years, until I discovered the technology of, now this group is more controversial than most others. But before I give it’s name I’ll say that I went to them bought a special and very famous book, and did a communications course.
During the course I had a sudden attack of neck pain which I’d had recurring most of my life and spent hundreds of thousands of $s on trying to get it fixed which, for a period of 15 years, had rendered me almost a cripple. So I had the fatal disease and being 80% crippled too. I knew the symptoms and I thought I was back to square one. But I received a special treatment, a very simple process that any one, any child, can learn and do very easily, that lasted for 10 minutes, and that was in 1994. I’ve had no recurrence of any old pains since. But get`this, it was free. After a few weeks I was given a very special interview and in that interview I discovered the reason for all my illnesses I’d ever had, including colds. From then on I have not been affected by them that I could not quickly and easily do some thing about them and none of the big scarey symptoms ever returned. 10 minutes for the neck pain, and 15 minute interview, for FREE and all my past problems vanished, except for one; having to wear glasses.
I’d spent close to $500,000 over many years on treatments. I lived for 10 years knowing that at any time would be my last breath. In 2002, in another very brief interview I threw my glasses away, too. After two plus decades of pain and chronic suffering I had been cured and for free!
The group, a highly controversial religion, not only allowed me to be free of all past illnesses they showed me how it’s done, I trained in it extensively and I have helped 100s of people, since, with diagonosed incurable diseases at the top right down to simple every day problems with no need for any medical intervention what so ever and the medical professionals who had been treating, very highly renowned people internationally, found no presence of the symptoms after I applied the treatments that took from several hours to several minutes, and most of it was just talking.
Now I know as soon as I write the name of the religion the critics will come out, lots of them. But I am living proof of it’s effectiveness to get to the root cause. The religion believes that the spirit, alone, can heal the body and it has processes that one can quickly learn to help others and oneself, much of it very inexpensively despite what the critics say, despite all the controversy, it simply works and is always done in consultation with doctors. All the people of all religions are to be found in that religion. Here it is; The Church of Scientology. It’s up to you to go check them out, but Scientology allowed me my own full physical, emotional and spiritual freedom, finally. Any one is free to criticise me for that religion, I care not of any such criticism, please feel free to be critical, but as I have said, Scientology allowed me my own full physical, emotional and spiritual freedom, finally, and put me in full control. I left the west in 2002, I live in China now, since 2002, and I have been able to, in that time, handle, fully, any thing negative, personally or otherwise, alone in China and Asia. Any real religion is illegal here in China, by the way. But not in Hong Kong where I will go to live and work very soon. -November of 2008 I was diagnosed with kidney stones and prostate cancer.
Mid-winter 2009 surgery to deal with the kidney stones.
-April 2009, wife had a heart attack which left her in a coma - She has come a long way but has not awaken yet (jamialynn.com).
Late summer of 2009, I began radiation treatments for prostate cancer.
-December 2009, declared cancer free, same day, kidney concerns.
-March of 2010, kidney production down to 14%. April, hospitalized for one week.
June, hospitalized again for a week with acute kidney failure.
August, hospitalized again with acute kidney failure, doctors told my family they did not know if I would make it. I heard the Dr. tell the staff, Poor guy (God heard him too). On dialysis for 2 days (only). Other medical issues diagnosed as well.
I have recovered from the kidney issue (Praise God) and am managing through some other medical issues currently.
I give all the glory to God for His hand upon my wife and myself. It is He who has sustained us. He is our healer, provider, our Lord and Savior and He is sovereign.

I do not feel that good people of other religions will be offended. I have many golf friends around the world of other faiths and political persuasions. We find many things of good and similar understandings.
I have struggled for 6 years with many symptoms you describe. Frustrating is a mild way to tell it. It has held me back from publicizing my unique way of teaching golf to beginners that works 100%.
There is nothing weak in being truthful. It is the presentation of your thoughts, decisions, actions, etc. that is the measurement. Ignore all “arm-chair quarterbacks”. A true leader is one who does NOT know it all; but can delegate temporary leadership to one who does know the solution to the problem at hand. A true leader will always have the people things correct.
You are Erik. Be who you are. Paul told the Corinthians about how important it is for them and God that he spoke the words of God and not of men. He did not want fame or fortune. You show this humility. People of other persuasions know and understand this humility from their base understandings.

Eric! I do believe that’s the first time I’ve seen you post the “untruth”…albeit not knowing it. Blind faith is precisely that: blind. God is good? As the story goes he drowned everyone on the Earth at one time just to erase and start again!? We have to assume there were no innocent babies and children in that mass of genocide, or he would be a monster, no? C’mon. It’s easy for you to say “that’s because ___ . But I am guessing if one hair on the head of ONE of your children was mussed up, you’d be very enraged - and rightfully so! Why don’t you demand the same higher morals from your god? Jesus, the supposed son of god doesn’t “heal” anyone; medical science has. The Black Death wiped out 2/3 of Europe at one time. Where was all that healing power at that time? If Jesus did exist and heal, why doesn’t he heal the paralytics like he did in the Bible? Or grow limbs back? Ever seen the limb of an amputee grown back? Nope. Surrender the fantasy and be free from your anxiety.
I am sorry to read about it; but I am even sorrier that people hold onto false images and silly stories in the 3rd millenia.
When you went to that doctor for tests, were you praying to the God who allowed 2/3 of Europe to die sickly and mostly alone? Or were you praying to medical science? Think about it.

We, Christians, know that it’s all about Jesus. Whether it is success in our business, career, family life… It’s the unmerited favor of God that sustain us everyday and it has nothing to do with our self efforts.
Even though circumstances may appear to be difficult at times, we have confidence that things will turn out right because of what Christ did for us on the cross. We are in the Beloved. As he is so are we in this world.
Christ is not sick where he is, then so are you!

Just wanted to share something personal…
I sometimes get questions asking me: “I can’t crack the IM code. I tried it all. I’m not making money…. How you do it???” Or “what’s the secret??” “Why I can’t do it??”
Normally I would reply them with a step by step plan to follow or tell them to get a course here and there. I reply them something that will make sense to them, because I’m a “marketer” as well.
But deep down within me, I know that the ONE and ONLY reason why it’s working for me, it’s because of God’s unmerited favor in my life. I’m blessed and it surely has nothing to do with me being smart or so.

Hey Eric! It is great to see just how much Christian (and general) support that you have developed thru your realness! My wife has suffered from this condition and is still slowly but surely recovering two years out from the date of the diagnosis. Fortunately, with the assistance of a physician who also practices Alternative Medicine, a highly skilled Chiropractor and some excellent supplements, the situation is being turned around. Keep yourself well! I ended up in your situation last year and I lost my job, car and all else that was material. I ended up getting better and started my company, Applegate Technologies and have the opportunity to sleep when I am tired and don’t have to push myself as hard as I did when I ended up sick.

I also, ran into a “depleted state of energy” and couldn’t complete a program that I was planning on reviewing for my blog. Day 5, I stopped but I’m starting all over again. Reasons why? I empathize with you that we are not infallible and sometimes our lives take a different direction because we recognize it or our bodies tell us differently. I am excited about your journey and your willingness to recognize that your path must be aligned with that of Jesus Christ. It may be a way for your body to tell you that maybe it needs to more aligned for a higher purpose.
Whatever the case, thank you for sharing and admitting the truth rather than being a “weiner” and lying aobut it!

Kind of like you - I am out of steam - no energy. Worse still - I am work injured and can’t seem to get past it. My only thought is to die. It is the only thought that stays with me daily. I’m dead broke. WCB pays me a paltry $600 a month - less than a 10th of what I was making. I’m completely out of ideas on how to get out of this mess.
That’s so much different than how I used to be. Strong and confident.
When this first happened to me - I got an answer from God when I asked Him what do I do now, “My grace is sufficient for thee” is how He answered me and continues to answer me.
I want to believe that. Continue to believe that but, it is tough to do. At this point I’m not even sure what it means!
Like you - I don’t want or need pity. But, if you don’t mind - I’ll grab a few prayers here since it looks like you’ve got a few extra ones to go around.

Eric.. thanks for posting this. I’d been thinking about you and wondering what was happening.
I too had issues with adrenal burnout for a while. My remedy was prayer initially and I was led to a product called Michaels Adrenal Factor in the health food store. It worked incredibly well for me and my adrenals are back on track now.
I also thank you for your forthrightness in talking about your belief. I’ve had a direct experience of God several times in my life, beginning at the age of 15 when praying to Jesus for forgiveness for stealing a candy bar, and suddenly I experienced a feeling of an energy being lifted out of me and then Holy Spirit descending upon me. I was in sheer bliss for two weeks after that before it went away due to the negative nature of my household.
Then after the death of my wife in 1995 I set out on a quest for enlightenment and I turned my home into the equivalent of a monastery, and became an unaffiliated monk. That led to one incredible night in 2001 when, while I was meditating and experienced the Light. In that, I knew that the Light was God, and that I was the Light as well, and that I was part of God. I also didn’t have any sense of being John at that point.. only of being Light.
I fell asleep in that state and the next day when I woke up I was in a state of Oneness and extreme joy and bliss.. and a voice, which I realized was the Voice of God, spoke from within and around me simultaneously (in Oneness there is no separation or local beingness) and said “You are in the body of God in Creation”.
Much more than that happened, but it brought me to understand that we are ALL part, (or aspects) of God experiencing life in what I have come to know as The Body Of God. I think it’s good to note also that these kinds of experiences are happening to people around the world right now and have been for some years.. I believe in response to the very serious need that exists in our world right now. I know several people who have had variations of what I’ve experienced.. including one internet marketer. God is waking us up to Who, and What, we really are.

Thanks for being honest and open.
I know where you’re at. I had adrenal fatigue last year. I’d been caring for my wife for about 6 years. I thought I was coping quite well but after I preached a message in church on Easter Sunday I crashed at home in the afternoon. It took almost the year to come right but I also had the grief of my wife’s death to cope with too in August.
I’m fine now and you will be too. If it helps the 2 most important things I learned in the experience were:
1. Wait on the Lord a lot more.
2. Walk in the Spirit a lot more.
I am a better person for the experience and I’m sure you will be too. Don’t let it frustrate you too much and be kind to yourself.
Hope you don’t think I’ve been too preachy but I want to encourage you with my experience.

I have been experiencing such physical symptoms for years and finally learned from a naturalist that I might need to get my adrenals checked. I haven’t yet, since I don’t have insurance, but I am almost certain that this is due to my crappy sleeping habits (up all night computing), my hard on the weekend play and the middle years lack of true physical activity.
What’s crazy though, with this information at hand I still will go around wondering why I feel so horrible all the time…?
Go figure!
Do we just do the same thing over and over again in the IM field and woder why we aren’t seeing results?
Why are we so blind to the truth?
There are mechanics that are proven to work and we just keep doing the same mistakes over and over again wordering why it just hasn’t taken off yet…

In deed, God is good and God heals. I myself have been in tremendous struggle to the church I am pastoring and like you, I’ve been through a lot of pressures. But the difference is that, I got emotional heartaches that keeps on pounding us.
But yes, Jesus heals…. There is victory in Him. Greater is He that he that is in the world.
Brother, showing your weakness to the world humbly and with recognition that apart from God we can do nothing is not much of a weakness. It is a spiritual strength that can keep us going.
So I would say, continue to do good. Life maybe unfair at times, but God is God. All we can do sometimes is to be still and know that He is God.

Well Eric I do agree. In the past I have ask for God’s help in things in my 78 years on this earth and he has helped me through a lot of difficult times. I VERY sincerly do believe in God but I do not go to church. It’s a building built by man that I do not wish to attend. Because I have in the past had dealings with so called religious people and it has turned me off as far a organized religion is concened. My church is just out side of my front or back door. I go to church every day in his church. I thank him several times aday for the help he gives me through thought or word each and every day. Some times I have problem and can not figure out how or what to do. So I just go do something else and either on the way or while I am doing that something else he says here is the solution you were looking for and when I finish that something else, I go do what I was doing at first and try what poped into my head which I firmily bealive was Gods doings some times the solution works and some time with a little tweking it does work. I can not quote the bible in any way I just know when what I do or say was the right thing to say or due, and I thank him many times a day. The thing that amazes me is how God finds time to take care of so many people in so many so called religions. There is only one God But he has many names.

I have never felt moved to comment before but having watched the video and read the many comments I feel I need to say something. Firstly, thank you for all the wonderful information you have sent to my inbox over the years.
I can’t believe how sad I felt watching the video and listening to that amazing song, I feel sad for all those people who have no belief, no direction. As an ex teacher, long ago retired I look at the younger generations say up to 45 - 50 years old and so many have no love of themselves or anyone else, no respect, no empathy for others, all the things we learn from following God’s word. I really despair that my grandchildren and great grandchildren are exposed to so much of this negativity in both real life and on the well named ‘idiot’ box. I also have come to the belief that the one God we love is the God of many religions, he belongs to us all but there are many, in positions of power or seeking to obtain power who try to fragment society and turn people against one another in the name of Faith. Where has there been a war that religion wasn’t at the heart with wealth and power following close behind? Why do we see young children being taught to hate others of a different Creed and believe that only they are the chosen people? If we could all strive to practice just one golden rule, ‘do unto others and you would have them do unto you’ we would at least be off to a good start.
I could go on forever as there is much happening in the world that gives me cause to ponder on the eventual outcome for mankind but I’ll give it a rest. I hope you are feeling a little better each day and every thing goes well with the new addition to your family. Love to all and God Bless Sylvia.

In my experience Ivan, I have seen both Christians who judge and Christians who love. I am a part of a community of Christians that genuinely care about one another. Unfortunately, because of the lack of love for one another as Christ-followers, Christianity has received a bad reputation. The Bible tells us as believers in Christ that others will know we are Christians by our love for one another. If this has not been your experience I am sorry. I have personal experiences on my and others of what is called Psychosomatic Illness, they are caused by the mind, when you cannot find real medical cure it is most likely to be psychosomatic. I have been going through years of Chronic Fatigue and never knew of this form of fatigue (Adrenal) and so it is something to look into for me. I always thought there was something “wrong” with me because everyone else was so healthy, doing so well, and I was defective somehow, so it is good to see you sharing the trials you are having. Makes me feel human, not like a freak anymore. I am on Disability because of it, so a limited income has stopped me from being effective in marketing, as I need to pay my living expenses before I can “invest” in any other way, but to see a light at the end of the tunnel, and know it isn’t an oncoming train is good!

I am very happy to see that you wrote the name Jesus Christ and made it clear that you believe in Him as your Lord and Savior. A few other noted online marketers claim to be Christian, and may very well be, but they never write and refer to the name of Jesus Christ or make it clear that they believe in Him as their Savior who forgives our sins and gives us eternal life through our belief, faith, and obedience to His Word. Hi Eric, I’ve put marketing on hold after kiddo #3 and haven’t been to your blog much but Richard said I should read this one. AMEN to the healing power of Jesus Christ! I suffered severe fatigue for 2 years in my twenties without definitive diagnosis and that was a dark time for me, especially since I was in Asia the first year. Doctors were stumped, and I saw plenty. But more than a decade later I’m grateful for learning my limits and living with far more peace and balance. Sorry to hear of your illness. However .. I must tell you that I had the same condition years ago. I was at the point where I was taking a hand full of vitamins twice a day to try to feel better. Instead .. they attacked my liver and made me feel worse. Still searching.. I discovered alkaline water, which reversed the condition very quickly. Thank you for putting up the video, still brings tears to my eyes seeing the way Jesus was treated. So much pain he went through to forgive us for our sins, and most of the time we think very little of his suffering. I too have medical problems. I spent 39 days in intensive care after a hiatal hernia surgery and have never been the same. I get about 4 hours of functional working time a day, on a good day. Then I had to have back surgery, which made it worse. So I know what your going through. Hang in there and come back. I need you. We all need you.
In life, we all must face our humanness and regroup to take care of what really matters. You are a moral and just man and you will be blessed and get through this. Let others reciprocate the kindness and love that you show and you will surely recover!!

I had similar problems and hypertension five years ago, but could overcome the crisis by following the following regimen:
1) Eating the right food.(One man’s food is another man’s poison)
2) Doing adequate exercise daily.Yoga and flexibility exercises like Sun Salutations, which are traditional Indian techniques helped me a lot.
3) Avoiding processed foods and substituting them with natural foods.
4) Adopting Breathing Exercises called Pranayama
5)Learning meditation and doing it everyday for 10-15 minutes.
You can try the above program. You should switch over to a totally vegetarian diet and completely give up alcohol for a few months. This will relieve the stress on your liver and detoxify it.
You have to care for your body and mind daily just like you care for your car. You have to set apart at least 30 minutes for yourself.
And above all have faith in God and on all the good people around you.

I am a muslim and had travelled to more than 16 countries around the world. I’ve been taught about international diversity and to focus to similarity rather than differences, to connect to multicultural societies.
Anyway, Islam and Christian share similar values. My pray to you for your happiness and tranquility.
I believe Jesus as a prophet and died because of some conspiracy by some bad people at that time who don’t like his preaching. The bad person was crucified instead of him which the people thought was Jesus Christ. He was taken to heaven and will come down to earth before the doom’s day i.e the end of the world.
Again, I don’t expect you to believe me but by all means continue with what you believe since the truth will only prevail when our life over in this world.

You know, I have been following your tips for some time but I really appreciate your openness and honesty with this blog post so thank you and keep well. Adrenal drain is often caused by stress over a long period of time and the adrenal glands simply cannot pump out amy more juices for you so take care and get them going again. Plenty of exercised and such that you can do to get them active again.

Thanks for keeping it real. Life has a pattern of cycles. We all go through different phases to give us balance. It also helps us to grow in faith. A man cannot truly appreciate happiness without experiencing sadness, neither can he fully appreciate victory without a good fight in adversity.
You’ll definitely have a testimony to help your borther. Exercise your faith in Jesus. He paid the price for sickness. Isaiah 53:5 tells us about it.

First of all I just want to say AMEN!!!! I’m sure you’ll come to realize that many people can relate to you & you’ve been blessed enough to get this far without the physical struggle. I unfortunately was hit with chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia/adrenal fatigue (18 yrs ago) in the prime of my life at 34. In my experience, a naturopathic doctor provided me with the best results. Have you had your thyroid checked? There’s a very close relationship between adrenal and thyroid function and if you have an underactive thyroid gland, that could be affecting your adrenals as well. Make sure you see a specialist, like an endocrinologist and possibly also a naturopath who specializes in hormonal issues.
I did have my thyroid checked, as that was a real suspicion, and it showed my thyroid was fine.

Thanks for being so open. I can relate. I came down with mono a few years ago (who knew you could get it in your 40s?) and it took about year and a half to feel like I had my energy back. Even now I’ll have a few days or a week on in awhile where I’m exhausted most of the time.
God has sustained me and my business throughout the period of being unable to work at full capacity. And He is doing the same for you.

Eric, by the way, did you try to suppress completely sugar intake? Sugar can make you tired, in addition of aggravating other conditions. I did this, it was easy, but I like my coffee to be a little sweet…. so I replace sugar with truvia or stevia (NOT with equal which is a horrible chemical)
Also check if you tolerate or not gluten… as it is all over in all we buy…
It was an interesting story in tennis world. Novac Djocovic who has been a good tennis player on place 3-5, all of a sudden start to have great performance and advanced in position 2. He confesses on an interview, that the doctors find that he is not tolerating gluten, so he starts a diet eliminating completely gluten-products, his mother cooks for him now, and he gains a tremendous energy.
So I think you have to try everything possible until you will find something which is working for you. All the best, keep fighting and you will be fine.

I subscribe to your lessons as I’m attempting to find an alternate income to me and my wife’s social security incomes. Eric, you have been such an inspiration too me. I see internet marketers come and go, but when I first bought stuff from you, and I found your personal blog, and read your testimony, I thought, “Wow! Now, here is a *real* guy.” You live sweat and bleed, just like Jesus did. Jesus is God, and yet even He did all of those. I think if Jesus had the balls to be a real man, and sweat *blood* for us, I think that is the greatest sign of strength. What more manly man was there than Jesus? I know that some things that can hinder your body is demons. There are of course many demonic influences which can affect us spiritually, and physically.

I am very sorry to hear of this, I had wondered why your emails had stopped.
If I may share something with you. 22 years ago when I was 25 I suffered a nasty back injury, after an operation I was retired from my job, I was a aircraft mechanic. Unable to work I became very depressed, I went from being an active young man to a shadow of myself without a future. I do not know if this is going to sound silly but in the middle of the night during this bleak period I had a very vivid dream, I saw myself working in an office writing software. I wanted to do that soo badly but I did not even know how to stitch a PC on let alone write code. I enrolled in a home study course and for the next two years I was broke, I sometimes could not grasp the information. But, after a lot of study and most importantly the undying belief in myself I persevered, it paid off.
The human mind can overcome many things and I know you will overcome this illness. Some time in the future you will look back on this period as just a blip, a slight deviation in the course of your life.

As the great Master had said to the lady who touched His hemline so she could be healed “your faith has made thee whole”. Likewise he declared: “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are gods’. Meditate on these words. This affirmation combined with visualization (guided imagery to others)work wonders to myself:”I and my Father are one” without a doubt meaning your faith is whole. I grew up so sickly that I had 2 NDE’s (near death experience) My meditation back then was I termed it crude cause I really had no idea in the 70’s how to meditate. In Philippines, no money no hospital. I simply seen my kids pediatrician as she was my doctor too cause she was really good. She made me promised to take the broad spectrum antibiotic religiously. I died and experienced my second death. What brought me back was LOVE. I felt my 4 children’s LOVE while I was with a Guide. It was my 13-month old son’s longing for a mother’s care that brought me back to this plane. When I came back I was just completely healed. Honestly, as a not tech person, we recommend that you stick with the tools provided at eBay, instead of other auction software.
Ebay has come a long way with excellent seller tools, and Eric continues use eBay to successfully sell all year-round!

Earlier today I received an email with an offer from you about 52 new plr-ebooks and I watched the video. You talked a little about your illness in the video and you said you did not want some advice, if they were not unique. Well, I think I can give you some very unique advice (and help). I have suffered from similar symptoms as you (more than 100 symptoms, when it was at its worst), though I do not think the diagnosis of Adrenal Fatigue existed at that time (in fact there was no diagnosis at all). This is more than 20 years ago and no help was available - which ultimately forced me to “be my own doctor”, so that I at all would survive.
I trained myself to be a shamanic healer, healed myself and have now worked for 10 years as a shamanic healer. And my specialty is what you have (of course, because I suffered from it myself). From a shamanic point of view we look at diseases in a slightly different way than you do in traditional medicine (but the two disciplines are working well together, as a supplement to each other), so the advice I can give you is from a completely different level (a spiritual level , one might say). It is interesting you are teaching HTML, yet your video training is in Flash. Have you considered HTML5 instead? This would be great to include as the acceptance of the iPad is growing by leaps and bounds. I like sitting with my iPad to watch videos vs carrying around a laptop.
Hi Eric, and a huge thanks. I have been following your very clear and helpful tips for a while, and am learning a lot. Unfortunately been unable buy some of your software though, as it’s PC only, and I run on Macs.
The huge thanks though, is for you bringing to my attention the information about Adrenal Fatigue, and the link. Armed with this, I went to my GP, as I have most of the symptoms described, and have been putting it down to depression.
He actually agreed that this could be the reason for my growing lethargy and other symptoms, and is now putting me on a treatment programme to slow up the problem, and hopefully reverse it.
I am extremely grateful, as I think this has been restricting me for a number of years.

The solution that has the most promise, is to use the Boot Camp software and install an addtional Windows Operating System, that you can switch back and forth from.

I maxed out my credit cards in 2008 attempting to teach myself Internet Marketing. At the end of that exercise I had learned to find a Mentor who has been there, done it and is willing to pay back to the Universe. That is when I discovered you and signed in to your 1 a day email lessons. I stalled in the mid 30’s - the lesson where the student has to select his/her niche market. A couple months ago I had an Aha Moment and my niche market topic came to me.
I am preparing to get at straight J.O.B. to fund my 2nd foray into the field of residual, recurring, passive income generation thru IM. Also, I like having cash in my pocket and money in the bank.Not to mention paying back the credit cards and a few other debts.
Over the last 2 weeks in processing emails I noticed that the evolution of software now includes WYSIWYG (5 click website creation/ modification) and a one click website creation that automatically adds new content monthly? weekly? ( by scouring the Internet and I imagine copying ‘like data’ then pasting it back on the one click sites created by this system.
As I worked my way thru your first 30+ lessons I privately ranked your Course as the most thorough well designed I had ever seen or could imagine.
