I’m Running My Business on Autopilot While On Vacation

By | January 21, 2007

Edition #108 – 01/21/2007

I’m writing this newsletter from the airport in Denver… FIVE DAYS AGO!

As you read this, I’m probably playing on the beach with my family…

I haven’t checked my email in the past 5 days…

And I won’t check it for at least four more days!

I’m not saying this to brag, seriously. I just wanted to let you know that it is possible to set up your business to run on autopilot and then take a vacation.

After all, if I’m not DOING those types of things, why should you listen to my advice about building your online business?

Here’s how I posted this newsletter even though I haven’t been online for five days:

As soon as I’m done writing this, I will log into the WordPress Admin panel for my Eric’s Tips blog. I’ll POST-DATE the entry for January 21st.

When the time arrives, WordPress will post the entry.

Next I’ll log into my Aweber account. I’ll paste this newsletter, and SCHEDULE it to be sent on January 22nd. Since the blog entry is being posted the previous day, it’ll be there for you to post your comments, if you have any.

I could have just as easily scheduled any number of newsletters to be posted during my vacation.

Besides this newsletter, there are other parts of my business that are working for me right now while I’m on vacation. I have many pay-per-click (AdWords, etc) campaigns running on autopilot, which are bringing me daily income.

I also have several pages that are adding subscribers to my newsletter each day.

I have an assistant who will handle any helpdesk support requests. I have joint venture partners who are working on projects, and I have contractors on RentACoder who are creating products for me.

Again, I only tell you this so that you can know what’s possible, and so that you can know HOW to build your business.

As much as possible, build a business that DOESN’T depend on your presence, and then you can take vacations too!

Lord willing I’ll be back and refreshed, and ready to crank out some great tips for you next week.

As always you can post your comments here on the blog.

Have a great day!

    Good for you!
I have aweber account and people on renta a coder but that is just not enough.I got only 2 signups, made 0$ in 5 days. 🙂
Eric, I am happy for you and hope this year will be yours, better and better everyday.

    One question:
do you think you could pick few of us and help us to get where we want to be, for a reasonable price and timeframe. I am building my site with original articles, posting them on blogs and making adsense $. But it is very small amount for very long time.($30/month). It looks to me that Iam doing everything right. My problem is that I don’t know what is wrong, maybe nothing, maybe it just takes time, more time.

    Happy holidays Eric.

Thanks for the excellent mini tutorial. I didn’t know that you could delay your blog post so easily. You just saved me a lot of headaches and a lot of time.

    Hi Eric,

Hope you are having a great vacation.

Thanks for the report but the last time I did the math 2 X zero = zero. Guess that means I should get my business to something above zero before I try to double it!

Great tips, Eric. I’m using free WordPress.com and didn’t know I could enter posts for future use. Are you using it too or are you on .org? I have a tool for creating content, then posting it to multiple blogs (only my own;not spam!) but haven’t tested it yet to see if I can plan posts ahead of time. That would be a huge time saver.

I will be automated someday…..it’s just a matter of time! You give me hope!
